Spot UV puts a raised, high-gloss varnish over chosen areas of an otherwise matt card. At arm's length the card reads clean and understated; tilt it and the logo or pattern catches the light, and you can feel the raised edge under your thumb. It does its work when the card is handled, which is exactly when a business card matters.
Print-ready PDF, CMYK, 300dpi, 3mm bleed, fonts outlined or embedded. Supply the spot UV areas as a separate mask — either an extra page or a clearly named layer — in 100% solid black, sitting exactly in position over the artwork beneath it. Keep UV shapes reasonably chunky: a bold logo, a pattern or a name in a heavier weight all work well; hairline rules and small, light type do not hold the varnish. Not sure how to set it up?
